As of February 2025, the legal proceedings surrounding the death of Nigerian singer Ilerioluwa Aloba, popularly known as MohBad, have seen significant developments. An auxiliary nurse, Feyisayo Ogedengbe, who administered injections to MohBad shortly before his death on September 12, 2023, is set to face trial. The Lagos State Police identified her as a prime suspect, alleging that the medications she administered—Tetanus Toxoid, paracetamol (IV), and Ceftriaxone (IV)—triggered reactions leading to the singer's demise. Further investigations revealed that Ogedengbe was not a licensed nurse, raising concerns about her qualifications to administer such treatments.
In contrast, prominent figures initially implicated in the case, including musicians Azeez Fashola (known as Naira Marley), Samson Eletu (alias Sam Larry), and Owodunni Ibrahim (also known as Primeboy), have been cleared of direct involvement in MohBad's death. Naira Marley and Sam Larry were arrested and detained in October 2023 but were granted bail in November 2023 after investigations did not directly link them to the cause of death. However, evidence suggested their involvement in prior incidents of cyberbullying and assault against MohBad, leading to separate legal considerations.
The Coroner's Court in Ikorodu, Lagos State, has been instrumental in the ongoing inquest into MohBad's death. In August 2024, the court ordered substituted service on key witnesses, including Naira Marley, Sam Larry, and others, to ensure their testimonies were heard. This move aimed to gather comprehensive insights into the circumstances leading to the singer's untimely demise.
As the legal process continues, the focus remains on ensuring justice for MohBad, with the trial of Feyisayo Ogedengbe being a pivotal aspect of the proceedings.
