Aderonke Ajibade, a 24-year-old TikTok influencer known as Sexy one-legged girl, has told how she lost her leg in an accident that required her to have four surgeries.
In an exclusive interview with The KUGJAY MEDIA on Sunday, Ajibade expressed her excitement at receiving the news of her amputation at Igbobi Hospital. She had been in pain for months while seeking traditional medication for her fractured leg from an accident.
She claimed to be from Ilaro, Yewa South Local Government Area, Ogun State, and a former student at Ilaro Polytechnic.
The amputee described her ordeal, saying, "I took a bike (motorcycle) to my hostel after school. On my way, a car hit the bike, breaking my leg. People were seeking assistance on my behalf. I was transported to Ilaro General Hospital. They insisted on chopping my leg there, but I refused, prompting us to seek traditional healers' assistance. But it kept growing worse, and the leg was slowly rotting.
After a while, I realized my leg wasn't getting better. We visited National Orthopaedic Hospital, Igbobi, in Lagos State. I arrived at night and was informed that my leg would be removed. I was lost and had to accept my fate. Deep down, I was genuinely thrilled since I had been in anguish since the incident occurred, and I assumed they would offer me a new life.
"I called the man who hit me and notified him of the situation. I only want him to apologize for everything he put me go through. Despite his best efforts to pay some of my medical fees before I arrived at Igbobi, he never returned after learning that my leg would be amputated. I almost committed myself when I saw old images of myself with two legs.
"I was depressed, and I had to tell people about my ordeal." I asked for donations several times since the costs were too high. The saddest part was having individuals I trusted and loved abandon me because of my illness. My boyfriend left me shortly after I told him about it; I wasn't expecting him to still date me, but just coming to see me would have made a big difference. "Even my friends, and I honestly understand," she responded.
Ajibade explained why she dropped out of school, citing the repeated surgeries that prevented her from continuing her education in Ilaro.
She asserted that this led to her learning how to make hair and creating methods for producing braided wigs for her prospective clients, as well as pushing individuals to never give up, regardless of their circumstances.
