On February 25, 2025, a Lagos Magistrate Court exonerated Nigerian singer Naira Marley, along with music promoter Sam Larry and artist Primeboy, from any involvement in the death of fellow musician Mohbad. The court's decision was based on legal advice from the Directorate of Public Prosecution (DPP) in Lagos, which stated that the trio had no case to answer regarding Mohbad's demise.
Following the ruling, Naira Marley expressed his gratitude on social media, stating, "And whoever puts all his trust in Allah, he will be enough for him. (65:3)."
While Naira Marley and his associates were cleared, the DPP recommended that the auxiliary nurse who treated Mohbad before his death, Feyisayo Ogedengbe, and one of the late singer's friends, Ayobami Sadiq, face prosecution for reckless and negligent acts.
Mohbad, born Ilerioluwa Aloba, passed away on September 12, 2023, under controversial circumstances, leading to widespread public outcry and demands for justice.
