Gov Lawal Declares State of Emergency in Zamfara Health Sector

Governor Dauda Lawal has declared a state of emergency in Zamfara's health sector due to poor conditions in hospitals.
The governor visited Gusau General Hospital and expressed concern over the poor working conditions of healthcare service providers and the infrastructural decay affecting the sector.
He outlined steps to revamp the health sector, including improving the quality of general hospitals through infrastructural development, providing state-of-the-art medical equipment, and establishing standard laboratories. He also plans to provide free maternal and child healthcare, focus on primary health centres, enhance the welfare of healthcare service providers, establish an affordable health insurance scheme, distribute necessary equipment and medicines, strengthen emergency response, and reposition human resources for health structure.
