Nigerian retired Commandant Desmond Agu has warned against merging the Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC) with the Nigeria Police Force (NPF), claiming it would worsen security challenges in the country. Agu, who served as a commandant in six states, argued that the NSCDC's special roles of protecting national infrastructure and monitoring private security companies would be undermined by a merger. He emphasized that the Federal Government's white paper on the Orosonya Report recognized the NSCDC's special roles and called for strengthening the corps to enhance its performance as an independent entity.
